Development of new husbandry methods for fish larvae and juveniles

For the fish larvae of some species, the optimal husbandry conditions are still unknown. We are currently working on the development of new husbandry and feeding methods for perch and pikeperch that are feasible under intensive conditions.

Fish larvae are usually kept in flow-through systems, as these guarantee high cleaning performance and constant water quality. However, this system is not suitable for all fish species, as some are particularly sensitive to flow and cannot tolerate these forms of husbandry over the long term.
Static housing systems are being tested for these fish species. This requires the use of feeds that have minimal impact on water quality.
