Methodology Course

The course serves to transfer knowledge of standardized survey methods for the determination of the ecological status of flowing waters according to GZÜV. For this purpose, the necessary instruments such as input software, reporting water body network and time schedule are presented.

The basis for fish population surveys in Austrian watercourses as part of the Water Quality Monitoring Ordinance is the “Guidelines for the Survey of Biological Quality Elements Part A1 Fish”.

The correct way to work with this guideline will be taught during the course. The necessary instruments such as input software, reporting water body network and time schedule will be presented. Furthermore, the course participants will be introduced to the derivation of the FIA. Experience from the last Water Condition Monitoring Ordinance periods will be used to point out sources of error in sampling using case studies.
