Pond-data-base

The Waldviertel Ecological Station has been maintaining a pond-data-base for several years, which, in addition to general information such as the number, location, type of use and water area of the ponds, also serves to store the results of investigations and data from long-term monitoring in a central database in a secure and bundled manner.

Brief description

The data goes back to the 1980s. This allows developments in environmental conditions for pond management to be determined and possible subsequent effects to be derived.

As of February 2024, the Pond-data-base contains 15.317 ponds in Germany and 107.066 analysis results. The majority of the data sets are located in the core region of pond farming, the Waldviertel, followed by Styria. In the next few years, the Upper Austrian ponds are to be recorded comprehensively.
