Brief description
Project cooperation: AGES, Waldland,
The aim of the project is to explore the potential of alternative protein sources and to provide impetus for a circular economy and improved resource management. The aim is to close the cycle of regional fish fattening by introducing regional components for fish feed.
In the project, the residual water from the recirculation system (Waldland) is being tested for its suitability for rearing duckweed (Lemna minor). In addition, by-products of herb and grain processing are being researched for the breeding of flour beetles (Tenebrio molitor). In further steps, these components will then be processed into fish feed in order to be able to replace the increasing demand for fish meal in fish feed with regional and more sustainable alternatives.
