Successful seminar on oxygen levels in carp ponds at the ecostation

For the first time the Association for Fish and Aquatic Ecology and the Ecological Station Waldviertel held a one-day seminar on oxygen levels in carp ponds on July 12, 2024.

This course dealt intensively with the effects of climate change on the temperature regime and, as a result, the oxygen content or lack of oxygen in carp ponds. Almost thirty participants gathered in the Waldviertel Region to address this currently challenging topic.

In the theoretical part in the morning, the importance of oxygen presence and absence was explained, from water chemistry to the physiology of carp and pond management. In the practical afternoon session, the focus was entirely on measurement and aeration technology.
