On November 25, 2024, Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig presented our long-time Federal Agency-Employee für Water Management and master fisherman Günther Gratzl with the professional title of “Regierungsrat” during a festive ceremony in the Marble Hall of the Government Building for Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management. With this award, the Federal Minister paid tribute to Mr. Gratzl's outstanding achievements in the exercise of his profession in the service of the Republic of Austria.
Günther Gratzl, a tireless pioneer in carp pond management, has made a decisive contribution to the promotion and further development of domestic carp production over a small number of decades with his extensive knowledge, experience and practical skills. His work in the Waldviertel Ecological Station department includes both innovative approaches to sustainable pond management and measures to secure the supply of high-quality fish. These achievements have not only been of local significance, but have also promoted traditional carp pond management and the sustainable use of resources throughout Austria.
Dear Günther, we thank you for your outstanding work and congratulate you on this well-deserved honor!
